Health and Caring

In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:37) Jesus says,“go and do likewise.”
In John 21:16 Jesus tells Peter “Tend my sheep.”

THE MISSION of the health and welfare committee is to empower Health & Caring ministries in the conference to model and nurture healthy disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

THE VISION is to establish Health & Caring teams in every congregation in the Desert Southwest Conference.

Health and Caring ministries are a people of God who are called to care for others emphasizing wholeness of mind, body and spirit. When we live in a state of “wholeness,” also known as shalom, we are much more able and willing to respond to God’s call in our life.

Health and Caring ministries do far more than tending for the physical body. The disciples in these ministries tend to the mental, spiritual, emotional and social well being of the congregation in which they serve.

As we participate in a ministry within a congregation we learn to continue that beyond the walls of the church. Our children and youth learn it as they grow and they know to pass it on. It is in this way they we are making healthy disciples of Jesus Christ.
