Worship is a contextual experience. One style does not fit all. Worship leaders must be adaptive. So what are some tools for making the worship experience more meaningful? What are the new ways of doing worship that might be more sensitive to the needs of first-time guests? Worship mentors have been trained and are available for any congregation who would benefit from talking with a mentor about contextual worship. Mentors are not judgmental, but offer a fresh set of eyes for possible ways to strengthen a congregation's worship. Contact David Devereaux at email@example.com or (702) 256-5933 to request a mentor.
How does the program work?
Upon the request of the pastor, a mentor is assigned to assess the worship and/or preaching. Then the mentor works with the pastor at his/her assignment and provides ongoing coaching throughout the development of worship and/or preaching. If you're ready to partner with one of the trained mentors, contact Rev. David Devereaux at firstname.lastname@example.org to get started.
What is involved in becoming a mentor?
In order to become a mentor, interested candidates must complete a series of training and coaching provided by Rev. Teresa Angle-Young, an experienced worship and preaching coach and ordained Elder in the North Georgia Conference. Once trained, mentors are assigned to assist churches within their current geographical area to minimize travel and maximize the amount of time available for the mentoring relationship. Some mentors will specialize in worship development, while others will specialize in preaching.
