Brian Schlemmer

Worship Leader

Brian Kemp-Schlemmer

Brian is a provisional elder in the United Methodist Church and is currently serving as the associate pastor at Desert Skies UMC. Brian has spent a number of years in ministry with homeless communities, the working poor, and folks with mental and physical challenges. Brian's theology of community and building God's kin(g)dom on earth has been greatly influenced by the six months he spent living in Khayelitsha, a township outside of Cape Town, South Africa, where the philosophy of ubuntu taught him to love the image of God reflected in each person. Brian is firmly committed to a church that honors God by honoring the full humanity and divine image of all people and is grateful to be home in Arizona where he can seek ways to honor God by honoring the stranger in our midst.

Shalom Agtarap

Worship Leader

Shalom Agtarap

Shalom is pastor of Ellensburg First UMC, a growing faith community in central Washington. While Seattle is home for her, she enjoys a different part of Washington state living, but severely dislikes shoveling snow. She completed her graduate work at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. Shalom completed the Upper Room's Academy for Spiritual Formation last year and as a result, drinks deeply from the well of guided meditation and spiritual reading. She loves to bake while blasting NPR or gospel music.
